Soundboard Repair
Depending on the humidity conditions and changes, the age of the piano, etc. The soundboard is most likely to crack. Most piano soundboards are made out of spruce. The following process is required to repair the cracks. String removal, tuning pins removed, plate or harp pulled out. Then, the soundboard will go through a drying process. The cracks will be shimmed with special shims made of the same material as the original soundboard. The soundboard will then be stripped to bare wood, and three to four coats of varnish will be applied. The piano will be strung with new strings and tuning pins and then tuned to A440.
